Taking Care of Yourself with Lauren McComb

Today, I am blessed to be joined by Lauren McComb.

After being a financial advisor for 5 years, Lauren realized that she didn’t want to sit behind a desk anymore and became her own boss. She decided to open her award-winning studios, Pure Barre Tampa and St. Petersburg and could not be more proud of the success they achieved. She soon helped open more studios in Clearwater and Bradenton and loves to see how they have helped the greater Tampa Bay community.

In 2017,  Lauren was approached with a new business venture called Prüvit, a worldwide leader in Ketone technology. Even though she had never heard of it, Lauren decided to try it for herself, and it completely transformed her life. Prüvit helped Lauren spread her passion for health and wellness far beyond what she ever could have imagined.

Self-care Is Everything

You always have to make sure you're filling your cut backups. You can continue to fill other cuts up, especially if you're a mom or a business owner. You work in the corporate world, whatever your schedule looks like, and we all fill our place in a different way. But it's important to recharge yourself and rejuvenate so you can be empowering, and inspiring and continue being a productive woman on the go or whoever you are on the go so you can live a productive lifestyle.

Self-care is everything. And self-care can look in so many different ways. But really, when I wake up to set my day for success I don't look at my phone right away. I first want to set my day, set my intention for the day. I always start with gratitude. So I just start saying five to ten things that I'm grateful for and really from the heart. So you feel it and it's going to be ingrained, and if you do that, they say 30 days great habit doing that consistently. You have such an abundant mindset, and it's so important to have that, and then I always will go to my kitchen, have some water first thing, obviously the kiddos. I'm making them breakfast and getting started for the day. But we'll put on some music in the kitchen, start our day with maybe some dancing around, having fun. But it's really important to set your day for success. So what that looks like for me is I love moving my body. So I always encourage you to find what you're passionate about. I am a huge fan of the peloton. I like the low-impact cardio. You don't have to have a peloton bike. So whatever cycle bike you have in your home or even doing stationary lunges around your house, whatever to move your body first thing in the morning if you have that time, you've been waking up to 30 minutes earlier because you're going to feel so great from those endorphins, and also what you fuel your body with is important. So it's going to really take a play in how you feel throughout your day. But self-care, I couldn't agree more with you. I just got an infrared sauna in my house and I've been going in it every single day, and I feel so great about it.

Stay Hydrated!

Hydration is key. That's a really big thing that I educate on daily and the rule of thumb is super simplistic to break down, but you just want to take your body weight and divide it in half and aim to drink that many ounces per day. So I try to aim for a little bit more than half of my body weight in ounces per day. Just because living in Florida, the heat in the summer, especially you're sweating more. So your body is losing water. You need to replenish the water that you're losing. In addition to hydration, takes a huge role in joint mobility, and how your skin appearance helps with so many different benefits, especially hydration. It's a vital thing for your body and also helps promote healthy metabolism, helping you sleep better at night. I can name 20 benefits that hydration provides, so that's why it's a huge key in your factor of health and how you feel overall, and I swore by electrolytes, I take electrolytes daily. I have my favorite and I can tell you where a little bit more about those are on my website. But the thing is, it's so important to make sure you are drinking water, especially if you need your move your body to make sure you're staying healthy and hydrated. I love talking about hydration, and I drink a lot of water every day. Sometimes I do a gallon.

I try to get at least 24oz in like, right when I wake up just because if you space it out and then you're trying to catch up with your water by like, 6:00or 07:00 p.m., and we all know you'll be up all night, but you want to try to get it in before, like six or seven. If you're able to then in the evening, maybe you have half a glass of glass for water, which is doable, and I also love adding collagen to my water. Electrolyte. Sometimes I'll add some chlorophyll drops, which chloral has a lot of health benefits to it in addition to immunity boosting. So I like to add certain things to my water. But water by itself is great. If you just want that for the hydration factor, then obviously you can add other things to it depending on what you're wanting to accomplish. I know you love skin health. I'm all about skin health. When you drink that proper amount of water, your skin just glows more.

If you're going to be out a lot, the summer, even all year long, if you live an active lifestyle, just think you have to replenish your body back, because again, when you sweat your body's losing water, you need to replenish that, and again, water helps with joint mobility. So as you age all those, it plays a factor in a role. So it's vital to your overall health. So I just say, just set, like, even a timer on your watch. If you wear an Apple watch or you have a timer on your phone, they also make those really cute water bottles that have little motivational messages, which I'm obsessed with. I have one of those, and then I also have a Hydro jug. The Hydro jug I believe carries like, 87oz of water. Don't quote me on that. I'll double check. But if you carry that around with you, you're getting a great amount of water in, and it's super cute to carry around.

Start Your Morning With Gratitude

I have the Five Gratitude Journal and I like to write in it in the morning and the night, and the reason why I like to start my day that way and end it is that it really puts things in perspective and kind of centers you and ground you because you're right. Danielle, if you check your phone first thing in the morning, social media is amazing. It's an amazing tool to build your business, and an amazing way to connect with people. But I am a firm believer in comparison is the thief of joy, so never compare where you're at compared to someone else's journey because, in life, you're exactly where you're meant to be in the moment you are and you are going to continue to grow just with the consistency of putting in the work, whatever you're wanting to accomplish. But if you say I'm grateful for my home, I'm grateful for my family. I'm grateful for whatever you're grateful for at that moment, you're going to really feel it and really be intentional about what you're saying you're grateful for. I'm grateful for my abundant mindset. I'm grateful for my positive outlook on life. Whatever. I'm grateful for the clothes I get to wear. Be excited when you say, and I'm grateful for my healthy children, and my loving parents. So that's just what's so important, because if you do go to your email, your phone is like Ding, Ding, Ding.

If you started out with the right mindset, then you're going to have a winning mindset all day long. If you're in control of your thoughts and your feelings and starting off with it when you live in a state of gratitude. Fear cannot exist, so sometimes he will try to enter in, and if you stay in that state, it won't enter. So that's why it's so important to practice gratitude daily.

How Did The Pandemic Changed You?

Yeah. I mean, definitely put things in perspective for me. I've always been a very on-the-go productive lifestyle, and very driven. I'd like to say I'm an entrepreneur. I started my journey as an entrepreneur in finance about seven years after graduating from College, and then I shifted gears into health and fitness because I love teaching fitness and educating on health and healthy lifestyle and really empowering. But I realized after having two back-to-back babies, I was away from the home more than I wanted to be, and now I'm a mom of five. I have a blended family and I'm engaged to love my life. We're getting married in January of 2022, but I realized I needed to be more present for our children and be home more, and being home allowed me the opportunity I get to work from home, which I'm so grateful and blessed with designing my own schedule, but realizing to really look at my schedule to see where I'm going to be the best mom, the best entrepreneur, and the best version of myself to make sure I'm paying attention to all areas of my life. We talked about earlier like, you need to pay attention to those areas. So you are the best version of yourself for everyone else because you need to keep your cup filled too, and I've made some shifts because when the pandemic pit, we had a pivot, not panic, and we just made adjustments as a whole, and I've seen really healthy shifts amongst a lot of people realizing how important family time is. Put your phone down when necessary so you can really focus on the moments that are happening to you. Life happens for us. It doesn't happen to us. So make sure you're present for those magical moments and create more magical moments.

It takes a lot of courage to make that shift because when you go from a schedule of traveling all the time, that itself is challenging. I personally don't know if I could talk about it all the time on the road, and I can lend you, but realize that to live out what you're passionate about, and yeah, I agree with you. You can never get those years back, and I always hear from everyone. They grow up so fast, they grow up so fast, and now that my children are growing up so fast. It's just nice to be able to live your life by design. So I encourage you for doing that and making that shift because a lot of people let fear enter. Well, what if and stay intent in that corporate world because they're not sure where to go and where focus goes, energy flow? So if you focus on what can happen and what will be, then that's where the true journey starts of life and living out your fulfillment, your vision, and your dream to make it real.

Create Your Vision Board Every Year

You have to be fulfilled. If you're not fulfilled, you're not going to be passionate every day, and in order to really, so that energy and positivity and bees fill from the inside out, you have to love what you're doing, and that's why if you have an idea of vision, I really educate and encourage on creating a vision board every single year, just so you can either add to it, expand upon your goals, or really focus on what are your one, your goals? Your 3, 5, 10-year goals. When I became a Lulu Lemon ambassador, I sat down and really mapped out my goals with a goal-setting workshop that they had. It was just phenomenal to learn more about the goals and really visual feeling it. What is your goal look like? Where will you be in that time frame? I also make a vision board with my fiancé because we have goals individually, where we see ourselves and then also together what we want to accomplish and really making your vision become a reality and living it out. Yeah. I always say like I'll break back to this just in that state of gratitude and you won't enter. Think about what can happen and happen for you just by taking that little shift and making a change.

The Five-Second Rule

I learned this from a seminar I attended about two and a half years ago. Mel Robbins, she's the creator of The Five-Second Rule. There have been times from, like, I don't know if I can handle this phone call right now, or maybe something's going on a Zoom or whatever you're doing at that moment work-related, and then just 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and then first severe right through, and the Robin teaches you the five-second rule. At the moment, you're second-guessing a decision you're making or you're having a challenging time. You just count down 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 go and just completely shift your mindset at that moment. So I couldn't agree anymore. We all will have those moments along your entrepreneurial journey. Whether you are a business owner, you work in the corporate world, or you're a stay-at-home alone, which is a major job in itself. I come in all my sales out there. It is a lot. You should give yourself a huge Pat on the back for the hard work every day. You are the CEO, the CFO, you're everything in the household. Okay, so it's just important to make sure you are living your life to your fullest, whatever that may be.

How You Can Fuel Your Body With The Right Nutrition

I actually wrote a very informative blog post about that low-park snack on the go, but I like to keep things simple. Just because we're both moms on here and overcomplicating anything is going to just overwhelm you. So what I like to say is whether you practice or you do follow a specific diet. I personally don't follow a specific diet. I believe in a healthy lifestyle and being mindful of choices, so I don't make myself feel restricted because I don't want to put a lot of expectations on yourself. That's what will create that overwhelmed feeling, and then it takes the fun out of everything you want to lose a life. But be mindful of your food choices

So some of my great go-to for myself and the family that I make sure I always pack that's easy hard-boiled eggs and you can pick those up also at any gas station. You can buy them in a bigger bag at the grocery store or at Costco or Sam's Club. Hardboiled Eggs Super easy to bring with you on the go everywhere. You can cut up some celery sticks, and mini Bell peppers and put some cream cheese on them if you'd like, whether you want to use the full bat cream cheese or reduced fat, whatever that may be. But that is a really great healthy snack. On the go. You can use some of the triggers to do everything but the Babel seasoning. I swear that is great on eggs on our six little cream cheese, those mini peppers with cream cheese. That's a really yummy snack. You can roll up some Turkey. Let's see, I was just thinking avocado slices. I love avocados on the go. I know sometimes you get Brown really. So if you slice it up and you eat it within a few hours, I love that free Greek yogurt with some fresh berries. So sometimes all I'm spring. So I'm prepared a lunch box with me. Or if you're on the road or on the go, just pack your meal to be prepared. But something that's more easily accessible. Hardboiled eggs, celery six Parmesan cheese are really good, especially focusing on eating low carb. Those are yummy. I recommend buying them at Costco or Sam's Club. I think they have it at both of those places, but you get a bigger bag and my kids love all five of them. So I always make sure I have them as an easy snack on the go. If you're focused on more like a keto lifestyle with lower carbs, you could always do better.

I just recommend getting a cleaner version with good ingredients. There are so many snacks I could recommend if you want more in-depth. LaurenMcComb.com there is a low-carb snack list on the go for you, and I also created low-carb healthy meals because I call low-carb mine not any specific diet.

Lauren McComb

Thanks, Danielle. It's great to be on, and I'm really excited to share more a little bit of story and you're making me blush. Thank you so much, kind of worse.

Danielle Cobo

Absolutely. You are just a powerhouse woman and just an incredible person to follow. You really take the time to educate women and really educate them on the importance of taking care of themselves, and I know from experience one of the biggest struggles that we have as career-focused women is taking care of ourselves because we're taking care of you now, our peers and our coworkers and our family and our businesses and our customers, and oftentimes what happens is the last person we take care of when it should really be the first person is ourselves.

Lauren McComb

Yes, I agree with you so much. You always have to make sure you're filling your cut backups. You can continue to fill other cuts up, especially if you're a mom, a business owner. You work in corporate world, whatever your schedule looks like, and we all fill our place in a different way. But it's important to recharge yourself rejuvenate so you can be empowering, inspiring and continue being a productive woman on the go or whoever you are on the go so you can live a productive lifestyle.

Danielle Cobo

Yeah, I agree. Yeah. It's hard, and sometimes it really takes other people to really remind us that we can in order to be the best version of ourselves, and in order to support other people, we have to take care of ourselves first. It's so important.

Lauren McComb

Self-care is everything. And self-care can look in so many different ways, Danielle. But really, when I wake up to set my day for success is I don't look at my phone right away. I first want to set my day, set my intention for the day. I always start with gratitude. So I just start saying five to ten things that I'm grateful for and really from the heart. So it's going to really take a play in how you feel throughout your day. But self-care, I couldn't agree more with you. I just got an infrared sauna in my house and I've been going in it every single day, and I feel so great for it.

Danielle Cobo

That sounds relaxing.

Lauren McComb

Yeah, it’s really is. There are so many great benefits to infrared sauna, so I kept doing my research. I found the one that I wanted, and then I put it outside on our master bedroom patio. So it's actually nice because you feel like you're outside and you get to sweat a lot, and then all the benefits that they're infrared. So it's great.

Danielle Cobo

I remember I was watching your Instagram and you had shared that one little tip about starting your day with water. So I am not, and I'll admit this, I am not the best water drinker, and I know it affects me in so many different ways because I suffer from severe migraines, and I can tell, like a migraine coming on because I'm dehydrated, and after following you, I noticed, you know, instead of starting my day with coffee, I should start my day with water and how important that is.

Lauren McComb

Yes, it really is, I mean, hydration key. That's a really big thing that I educate on daily and the rule of thumb is super simplistic to breakdown, Danielle, but you just want to take your body weight and divide it in half and aim to drink that many and ounces per day. I love talking about hydration, and I drink a lot of water every day. Sometimes I do a gallon.

Danielle Cobo

Wow, that's great advice that you give, too, because a lot of times people say drink more water, drink more water and you really broke it down as to how much we should be drinking, because I've always wondered that how much should I be really shooting for?

Lauren McComb

Yeah, it really just half your body weight ounces, and I always guide you. That's why the first thing in the morning, I try to get at least 24oz in like, right when I wake up just because if you space it out and then you're trying to catch up with your water by like, 6:00or 07:00 p.m., and we all know you'll be up all night, but you want to try to get it in before, like six or seven. I'm all about skin health. When you drink that proper amount of water, your skin just glows more.

Danielle Cobo

Absolutely, and it's so great that you said that because it's so true. I mean, I was in the skin-care industry for medical-grade skin for the past eight years, and it really does make an impact. There are so many people that say, oh, my face, it just looks dull. It's breaking out a lot, and the first thing every single person should be doing is hydrating their body because that in itself is free and make a major impact on the quality of your skin.

Lauren McComb

Yeah, and if you're going to be out a lot, the summer, even all year long, if you live an active lifestyle, just think you have to replenish your body back, because again, when you sweat your body's losing water, you need to replenish that, and again, water helps with joint mobility. But if you carry that around with you, you're getting a great amount of water in, and it's super cute to carry around.

Danielle Cobo

You said, starting your morning with gratitude because here's something that I know a lot of us are probably guilty of is the first thing we do in the morning is check our phone and whether it's social media or those of you that check your phone and go straight to email us, it's the worst thing you could do because you're automatically starting your day almost overwhelmed, and so your advice of the first thing that you do is gratitude.

Lauren McComb

Yeah, gratitude. I actually I have the Five Gratitude Journal and I like to write in it in the morning and the night, and the reason why I like to start my day that way and end it is because it really put things in a perspective and kind of centers you and ground you because you're right. Danielle, if you check your phone first thing in the morning, social media is amazing. It's amazing tool to build your business, amazing way to connect with people. But I am a firm believer in comparison is the thief of joy, so never compare where you're at compared to someone else's journey because in life, you're exactly where you're meant to be in the moment you are and you are going to continue to grow just with the consistency of putting in the work, whatever you're wanting to accomplish. But if you say I'm grateful for my home, I'm grateful for my family. I'm grateful for whatever you're grateful for in that moment, you're going to really feel it and really be intentional about what you're saying you're grateful for. I'm grateful for my abundant mindset. I'm grateful for my positive outlook on life. Whatever. I'm grateful for the clothes I get to wear. Be excited when you say, and I'm grateful for my healthy children, my loving parents. So that's just what's so important, because if you do go to your email, your phone is like Ding, Ding, Ding. Before we start our podcast, I'm like for my phone on silent because it can be distracted, and if you wake up, you want to channel and harvest your energy for what you're wanting to accomplish for the day, and if you started out with the right mindset, then you're going to have a winning mindset all day long. If you're in control of your thoughts and your feelings and starting off with it when you live in the state of gratitude. Danielle, fear cannot exist. So sometimes he will try to enter in, and if you stay in that state, it won't enter. So that's why it's so important to practice gratitude daily.

Danielle Cobo

I think these unique times where hopefully on this later portion of the pandemic, the pandemic really opened our eyes to when things get stripped of us and we're not traveling all the time. We're not doing this all the time, and it really got us back to our core of what's important and the quality time that we get to spend with our family during this time and appreciating our health and all these things that we've learned through this pandemic has really opened our eyes, the things that we get to be grateful for.

Lauren McComb

Yeah. I mean, definitely put things in a perspective for me. Danielle. I've always been very on the go productive lifestyle, very driven. I'd like to say I'm an entrepreneur. I started my journey as an entrepreneur in finance for about seven years after graduating College, and then I shifted gears into health and fitness because I love teaching fitness and educating on health and healthy lifestyle and really empowering. But I realized after having two back to back babies, I was away from the home more than I wanted to be, and now I'm a mom of five. I have a blended family and I'm engaged to love my life. We're getting married in January of 2022, but I realized I needed to be more present for our children and be home more, and being home allowed me the opportunity I get to work from home, which I'm so grateful and blessed designing my own schedule, but realizing to really look at my schedule to see where I'm going to be the best mom, the best entrepreneur, and the best version of myself to make sure I'm paying attention to all areas of my life. Put your phone down when necessary so you can really focus on the moments that are happening for you. Life happens for us. It doesn't happen to us. So making sure you're present for those magical moments and to create more magical moments.

Danielle Cobo

Yeah. I was just like you before the pandemic. I was a leader for a Fortune 500 company. I had five States. I was traveling six of the time at my twins were three, and the Pandemic really opened my eyes to what's important, and I don't want to miss out on these years. So I wanted to create something where I can still have a thriving, successful career, still make an impact on other people's lives, because at the end of the day, that's what I want people to say in my a funeral. It's like Danielle is known for making a positive impact, and I wanted to be more present with my kids, and so I left Corporate America and started this business, and it's been a huge leap of faith. But the pandemic, it really opened my eyes to pivoting life, and on my eyes was really important.

Lauren McComb

I commend you because it takes a lot of courage to make that shift and also commending you, because when you go from a schedule of traveling all the time, that itself is challenging. I personally don't know if I could talk about all the time on the road, and I can lend you, but realizing that to live out what you're passionate about, and yeah, I agree with you. You can never get those years back, and I always hear from everyone like. They grow up so fast, they grow up so fast, and now that my children, they are growing up so fast. It's just nice to be able to live your life by design. So I encourage you for doing that and making that shift because a lot of people let fear enter. Well, what if and stay intent in that corporate world because they're not sure where to go and where focus goes, energy flow. So if you focus on what can happen and what will be, then that's where the true journey starts of life and living out your fulfillment, your vision, your dream to make it real.

Danielle Cobo

You've done that. You left the finance world into going to health and fitness, which is a completely different world, and talk about what that shift was like. I see those as two completely different rules for some reason.

Lauren McComb

Yeah. So I was the one in College, Danielle that I have no idea what I want to major in. So if that is you or that was you, that is totally normal, because sometimes they can be like, oh, well, I think I want to be this for this. I don't like when I grow up, but I decided to major in marketing, and my first job out of College actually was in finance, and I was in training program to be a financial advisor, took the series 7 exam in the series 66, got my certification, and then I became a financial advisor back in 2012 2012. I was in that care for about six and a half years, and I was very passionate about connecting with my clients and educating them and even beyond just the financial aspect developing that relationship. But I realized I wasn't passionate sitting behind the desk wearing a suit all day long. Like, I am a fitness fanatic. I love educating on the benefits of that fitness provides to your body, your mindset, and also I love anything active where I don't know who doesn't let's ring. After I took my very first pure bar class in August of 2012, my hometown actually financial vibing let's rewind. I started in 2007. In 2012 was when my pure bar journey began. So 2012, I took my very first pure barre class, and I fell in love, and from there, I just opened up my first studio, moved to Tampa Bay, not knowing one her so, and I think I knew one person actually was my brother who was living there at the time, and I one turn into four within two years, and it just grew from there. So pretty amazing. But the leap of faith that I took, I was certain in that I love fitness and health. I was certain that I wanted to make a change. Did I have some fear? Absolutely. Because I had a very secure job in finance. I had benefits. I had paid vacation. I had a great set salary. But I wasn't fulfilled.

Lauren McComb

Yes, you have to be fulfilled. If you're not fulfilled, you're not going to be passionate every day, and in order to really so that energy and positivity and bees fill from the inside out, you have to love what you're doing, and that's why if you have an idea of vision, I really educate and encourage on creating a vision board every single year, just so you can either add to it, expand upon your goals, or really focus on what are your one, your goals? Your 3, 5, 10 year goals. When I became a Lulu Lemon ambassador, I sat down and really mapped out my goals with a goal setting workshop that they had. It was just phenomenal to learn more about the goals and really visual feeling it. What is your goal look like? Where will you be in that time frame? I also make a vision board with my fiancé because we have goals individually, where we see yourself and then also together what we want to accomplish and really making your vision become a reality and living it out. Yeah. I always say, like I'll break back to this just in that state of gratitude and you won't enter. Think about what can happen and happen for you just by taking that little shift and making a change.

Danielle Cobo

Lauren, I'm in 100% agreeance with you because my husband, I make expansion for every single year, and not only do I write down my goal is, I also write down how I'm going to reward myself, and so I like nice things I do and I'm happy. Yeah, and each year I've either bought a pair of Christian Lou Boutin or Louis Vuitton Bag, or if even one year bought myself this beautiful cocktail ring that I wanted to wear that I wanted, and so once you create that vision board and you put it out there, my vision board always sits above my desk. So I look at it every single day and then talking about how I'm going to reward myself for achieving those goals, and I do the same thing with you. My husband and I sit down and we talk about what are our goals as well, and it's incredible when we look back each year and we put some bold goals together. I mean, are they been paid off? Our house already have our kids College fund already paid off within five years. All of these things that are some pretty bold goal. We look back and we've accomplished them.

Lauren McComb

You put it out there, because when you put it out there, you're going to be focused so much more every day on that goal, and I love that you have your vision board above your desk. I actually have it in our shared office upstairs, how we have both of ours together. So I had a goal and was on my vision board to go to the breakers and Palm Beach. I've always wanted to go there. I've seen beautiful pictures, and we went in March of 2020, just right before the pandemic hit. I just was like, I am fulfilling this off our vision board, really, whether it's travel where you want to live by some things like you said, like, I'm a best Chanel. So I'll put maybe a single handbag that I want on my vision board. Now that's an investment in help, and it's great to feel that much more accomplishment does become a reality, and when you wear it or you travel there or you are living by the word that you want to, it just feels so much better because you accomplished that. You set your mind. But you did it, and you did the daily consistency and action to get there.

Danielle Cobo

Yes, it's so true, because every time you pick up that bag, every time you wear those shoes, every time I look down at my hand, and I look at this ring, it takes me back to that moment of all the hard work I put in and just reminding of yourself because you're going to have those days where you're burned out, you're going to have those days where you have that self-doubt, and then when you have those items that you've been worded yourself, it reminds you that it's all worth it. It'll happen if you put yourself out there and just put the work in, show up every single day being the best version of yourself.

Lauren McComb

Yeah, and I learned this from a seminar I attended about two and a half years ago. Mel Robbins, she's the creator of The Five Second Rule. So we all have right. Like, there's been times from, like, I don't know if I can handle this phone call right now, or maybe something's going on a Zoom or whatever you're doing in that moment work related, and then just 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and then first severe right through, and the Robin teaches you the five second rule. In the moment, you're second guessing a decision you're making or you're having a challenging time. You just count down 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 go and just completely shift your mindset in that moment. So I couldn't agree any more. We all will have those moments along your entrepreneurial journey. Whether you are a business owner, you work in corporate world, you're a stay at home alone, which is a major job in itself. I come in all my sale out there. It is a lot. You should give yourself a huge Pat on the back for the hard work every day. You are the CEO, the CFO, you're everything of the household. Okay, so it's just important to make sure you are living your life to your fullest, whatever that may be.

Danielle Cobo

So I'm going to shift gears a little bit because when it comes to being on the go and we used to joke around, we always joke around about in College. You have the freshman 15, and when I was working for a Corporation and every person that stepped into a leadership role, we called it the leadership 15, because what would happen is I was covering five days. I was traveling 60% of the year and you're eating at restaurants all the time, or you're eating little snack on the go. You're driving through fast food, and so it's really hard to eat healthy on the go. So what tips would you have for women out there as to how they could still maintain a nutritious lifestyle, how they can fuel their bodies with the right nutrition.

Lauren McComb

Yeah, that's a really great question we get that all the time. I actually wrote a very informative blog post about that low park snack on the go, but I like to keep things simple, Danielle. Just because we're both moms on here and overcomplicating anything is going to just overwhelm you. So what I like to say is whether you practice or you do follow a specific diet. I personally don't follow a specific diet. I believe in a healthy lifestyle being mindful of choices, so I don't make me myself feel restricted because I don't want to put a lot of expectation on yourself. That's what will create that overwhelmed feeling, and then it takes the fun out of everything you want to lose life. But be mindful of your food choices. So some of my great go to for myself and my family that I make sure I always pack that's easy hard-boiled egg and you can pick those up also at any gas station. You can buy them in a bigger bag at the grocery store or Costco or Sam's Club. Hardboiled Eggs Super easy to bring with you on the go everywhere. You can cut up some celery sticks, mini Bell peppers and put some cream cheese on them if you'd like, whether you want to use the full bat cream cheese or reduced fat, whatever that may be. But that is a really great healthy snack. On the go. You can use some of the trigger does everything but the Babel seasoning. I swear, that is great on eggs on our six little cream cheese, those mini peppers with cream cheese. That's a really yummy snack. You can roll up some Turkey. Let's see, I was just thinking avocado slices. I love avocado on the go. I know sometimes you get Brown really. So if you slice it up and you eat it within a few hours, I love that free Greek yogurt with some fresh berries. So sometimes all I'm spring. So I'm prepared a lunch box with me. Or if you're on the road or on the go, just packing your meal to be prepared. But something that's more easily accessible. Hardboiled eggs, celery six Parmesan cheese with are really good, especially focusing on eating low carb. Those are yummy. I recommend buying them at Costco or Sam's Club. I think they have it at both of those places, but you get a bigger bag and my kids love them all five of them. So I always make sure I have them as an easy snack on the go. If you're focused on more like a keto lifestyle lower carb, you could always do better. I just recommend getting a cleaner version with good ingredients. There's so many snacks I could recommend if you want more in depth. LaurenMcComb.com there is a low carb snack list on the go for you, and I also created a low carb healthy meals because I call low carb mine not any specific diet.

Danielle Cobo

Lauren, you said something that really resonated. Because the minute you put diet on something, the minute you put restrictions on something, it's really hard. It's already going to create that feeling of us being hard ourselves, because if for any moment we're not meeting that part, we're going to be hard on ourselves.

Lauren McComb

So that's why I say I follow a little curb lifestyle. I full reward myself, just like you talk about vision board to reward yourself when you earn it. If I'm out with my family and I want cheeseburger and it's a Saturday, I'm going to do that. But actually this is my personal preference. I love the Ness of lettuce. So I actually tap the bun and I wrap it take better to actually get to pay the good quality of the meat wherever you're getting a hammer. Or if you come on at home and say that you're vegan or vegetarian. If you do follow a certain lifestyle, there are many great options to that you can have. There's a lot of great vegan snacks. There's so many options out there. I forget exactly what they're called. My kiddos actually love them. They're at Whole Foods. They're like these stuff that are vegan and they love them and they actually have really great ingredients. They have like Cauliflower puff now, and Cauline, there's so many alternatives and options for you, depending on whatever tile you choose. But I would just recommend being prepared. So I like to meal prep on Sunday for my fiancé and I do it. It takes about an hour or two, depending on what your meal prepping for the week and then you have healthy options and your fridge ready available. If you know you're going to be on the road. I know you used to travel a lot. Just be mind when you are ordering. You can look at the menu. If you do eat meat or fish, maybe order a piece of salmon with promptly. Maybe hold the bread if you can. I know sometimes the bread is passed. It is super yummy, but just think about what your overall goals are and how you want to feel, make sure you're sitting down at dinner. I always try to at least get two glasses of water, and while I'm sitting at dinner, so there's just a few tips right there. But you can always order healthier options when you're out on the go to and most gas shapes, and, like I said, have a snack that I shared.

Danielle Cobo

That's a great advice, even at the gas stations. I mean, we can really find healthy snacks anywhere, even at the gas stations. It's just a matter of knowing what to grab.

Lauren McComb

I'm truly impressed, actually, because the last time I went in, I'm like, wow, they have so much more of a variety now, you know, it's really an so you just want to make sure you're looking at the right section, but you can find, like I said, so much stuff, even just stopping at a gas station if you're on the road on the go. Yes. I have a portable plug in my car. So when I was on the road a lot, I set my meal in a portable hot logic. It looks like a lunch box, so you can plug it into your car and it heats up your meal as you're driving. So if you didn't have time to stop, so literally, there's no excuses you can do anything you put your mind to. So I used to eat on the road, but have my meal warmed up, it took about an hour to heat up, but it still would be a warm meal if I brought it on the go.

Danielle Cobo

Well, that's a lot better than what my husband does, because what my husband does is he takes tin foil. I mean, he's in the military, so he's just his mindset. He takes tin foil and he'll put the bed on tinfoil, and then he'll Cook it on his engine.

Lauren McComb

That's a good right to thought.

Danielle Cobo

He almost makes he'll take ground beef and then just whatever's kind of left over from the day before, and he'll wrap it up in this big tin foil thing, and he cooks it on his engine.

Lauren McComb

Oh, my goodness. That's awesome. That's very resourceful.

Danielle Cobo

Yeah, that's awesome. He enjoys. He cooks on a vengeance.

Lauren McComb

Yeah. Hey, whatever it takes to be healthy on the go. But that is key. So thanks for even asking me that question. I think it's so important to know that and your options that you have out there for you, and you can always research more like what you would gravitate better for snacks and meals. So then you can have a list of your favorites. So then you know, when you stop or you're on the go or in a pinch, you can make that healthy choice for you.

Danielle Cobo

Yeah, and, you know, I don't think many people know this about me because it's not something I normally advertised. But I am vegetarian. I've been vegetarian for seven years and you're right. There's a lot of really good healthy alternatives. So I start my morning with an egg and over easy egg over the Trader Joe's mini vegetarian sausage patties, and then, yes, everything but the bagel just sprinkled on top. It's so flavorful, it's actually addictive to me. I eat it every morning. You love it.

Lauren McComb

We put in our eggs every morning. My fiancée, we love it, and you can put it on so much, which is so great. Yeah.

Danielle Cobo

So what are three? The Lauren, you've shared so much valuable information during our time together. What are three takeaways that you really want our listeners to take away from our conversation today? Because quite honestly, there's probably 20 things we've learned during this time together. But what are some three that really you want them to resonate with?

Lauren McComb

Yeah, three big takeaways, is really evaluate your day to day and really know if you're fulfilled or not. So if you want to make a little shift in how your day looks for you, you can map it out. I really, really recommend I use an old school planner. I write everything out and I like to review it the night before I go to bed. When I wake up, I really have my intention set for the day, and I start with gratitude. So whether you use your phone or your iPad or an old school planner, like, make sure how you're living you’re day to day, you feel fulfilled and you're living at to the fullest. But also, like we said, better every day. I focus on 1% better every day. So evaluating your day and what it looks like for you would be a big takeaway a second. One is, are you living your dream life out? I love that. Danielle asking to be a guest on this podcast because I love that she made that shift in her life because she recognized what he had to do to live out her dream life? Ask yourself, are you living your dream life? What does that dream life look like to you? You can make the necessary steps. I think about where you would be in a year or two from now if you started making shifts to live your dream life even five years from now, success doesn't happen overnight. It happens. It consistency. I always say this when I'm educating clients, Danielle, your body's, not Amazon Prime. It's not going to show up. I wish it did show up on you know what it is going to show up for you if you recognize the ship you want to make, so ask yourself, are you living your dream life? What does your dream life look like to you? Because if you focus on where you can be in a year or two, have ten years from now just by making the shift, I always say a two degree shift really change everything, change the game. So ask yourself, are you living your dream life and then three. I would say, gosh, that's a great question. I have so many I want to show. Like you said, we kept 20.

Danielle Cobo

Yeah.

Lauren McComb

I would say focus on every day, focus on who can I empower because when you're empowering others, you feel you live a somewhat more fulfilled life, because you're making an impact and like Danielle's making impact around the world with women, it has been globally so like, ask yourself Who can you impact in your life? What's so great to do is when you don't always think about meaning and focus on how you can serve it comes back tenfold, obviously always make sure your cup is still focusing on self-care, and ask yourself, Who can I empower today, who can I live, even if it's just one person. Think about it. If you impact one person a day, the ripple effect that will create and how many people you can impact a year, two years, three years, pretty remarkable. So it also will make you live your life with more fulfilment, because you're not only serving yourself and focusing on better every day but you're inspiring others to be better, and that will create the ripple effects around the world. I'm a firm believer in that, and that's what I do every day as you keep people housing to be a better version of themselves, how can they feel their body better feel their mind better, that I've done a lot of the research and the groundwork and have been doing that for quite some time and that's why I'm passionate about so I am, I'm a I'm a chatty Cathy. But I would say those three areas to really take away and think about it. Think about what that means to you.

Lauren McComb

Lauren, yes, you're right. You can make an impact in whatever it is you are making an impact with your education and teaching women about and men as well about fitness and health, and I'm making an impact by inspiring women to pursue their dreams and live life that they desire, and I always ask people, what do you want people to say about you at your funeral? When people show up to your funeral? What impact, what legacy do you want to leave behind? And when you get to make impact on others and the variety of ways that we can, then that's when you know you're leaving a legacy just in making a Mark on the world.

Lauren McComb

I agree with you. Actually, my company on the line with we have done a few exercises where we actually sit down and write ourselves a letter like future that would be read at your funeral in the future, and it's pretty remarkable to take that time to recognize how do you want to be remembered? What words are going to be said? Like, how are people like, what impact did you leave? What Mark you leave, you know. So I love that you brought that up, Danielle, because that's so true and so impactful, and it brings such a big AHA awareness to that right there. Would you will need to make a shift so that I could serve more and serve with passion and from the heart, and I want my children know, I created a legacy for them and just less people better than when I met them and really just inspired and educated and so much. There's so much I could say. But military exercise a practice for yourself. I love that you brought that up. I love that you brought up.

Danielle Cobo

Yeah, I've done an exercise as well, and it's pretty powerful. It's uncomfortable to go through and just let anybody know if you're thinking about doing this, it's uncomfortable to go through, and yet you really walk away with how do you want to live your life? What type of impact do you want? What do you want people to say? The words that you said are the words that people are going to use, and when you do that exercise, it really puts things perspective as well as shift you into gratitude as well.

Lauren McComb

I agree, and you know, how do you want to be, like you said, known as, like, time loving, giving, heart, philanthropic around the community, whatever you did to make that impact so huge, and I do agree with you. When I was doing it, I had some tears rolling down my cheeks. I was a little uncomfortable, but that's what the beauty is when you allow yourself to be uncomfortable, that's when you truly have growth and from that exercise, so I'm so grateful that prove it put me through that exercise because along my entrepreneur journey, I've learned so much, especially in these past four years, being able to be educated by top thought leaders in the world that prove it has given me the opportunity to do that. Mel Robbins, Jared Robins, which is Tony Robbins’s son plenty of amazing speakers that I've really got to expand my vision and my mindset on this entrepreneurial journey and on growing each and every day.

Danielle Cobo

Yeah. It's interesting where I'm finding amongst entrepreneurs, and I'm a dalliance with you, Lauren. We invest in coaches, so we as ourselves our coaches, and then we invest in coaches. I have a business coach that I'm with for the next 15 months, and I'm part of this leadership program for the next two years, because if we want to be the best versions of ourselves, we want to add value to others. We need to pour into ourselves as well when it comes to our growth and really how we can make a positive impact on others.

Lauren McComb

Yeah. Leadership is a continual learning process. So that's amazing that you set a business coach for the next 15 months and then a leadership program in the next two years. I love that because that's how you're going to continue to grow and be able to inspire and lead and the intentional that you're doing every day. So I have a coach that I work with too, and it's nice to have that collaboration with someone also to hold yourself accountable ownership. It's always important to take ownership and wherever you're at in corporate world on your own businesses so you can be better and really expand upon what you are doing. But my coach really holds me accountable and I do assignments before our next scheduled call. So when I show up, I'm like, ready to rock and roll with her. So we are very effective during our coaching time together. So whether you are the top coach in the world, everyone has a coach.

Danielle Cobo

So yeah, everyone does. Even the top Tony Robbins have coaches out there for them. So now where can people find you? Because you have such an amazing impact on social media and you take so much time in sharing your knowledge. You are all about give, given pour to others. So where can people find you?

Lauren McComb

Yeah. So thank you for bringing up earlier. I am on Instagram. My handle is Lauren McCombs. I really use my platform to list others of encouragement, positivity, educates. I also have a bearing firm believer. I love supporting other businesses. So when I find something that I absolutely love or I want to support, I use my platform to bring awareness to a really great business or something that someone's doing. Like, I love what you're doing, Danielle. The mission of really inspiring others and connecting and empowering. It's so important. Hey, Lauren McComb is my Instagram handle. I also have my website laurenmccomb.com where I use that to educate. I have a lot of Kohls and blogs have written that. For instance, I have one on Hydration that talks about the in-depth imports of Hydration, my favorite electrolyte which is Metopera that's within the blog and talks about the benefits to provide. I love MCT oil, so I have a really good blog post on MCT Oil. I like to use it as salad dressing, drizzle it on vegetables, gives you good healthy facts and it's really great for brain health and functionality. So that's about LaurenMcComb.com. I am on Facebook that's really I use it for family pictures and connecting to the friends. I love Facebook that it tells you when I know people's birthday, but sometimes when you just meet someone, it's their birthday in the next month or two and you get this birthday. I love light being able to like people's days up with a birthday wish or sending love. So I just want to bring this real quick. I am a firm believer and work of affirmation or I should say a five love level length, and my dominant one, and so I love writing letters and seeking positivity and commenting and sharing love on people's platform. I think it's so important for a home. Lauren McComb is my Instagram handle. LaurenMcComb.com is my website where I educate, inspire, and write a lot of great information. I'm Lauren Macomb on Facebook and then I also have my website where I have a Dodge Petoes that and the low carb lifestyle. So that sets the barreshopketo.com. So I like to set the bar high. So when I say barre, it's not like the bar you go to its B-A-R-R-E like per bar so that's where you can really find me and then I'm Super communicative. So if you do send me a message, I do reply and you'll probably get a voice memo back for me because I'm just very personable that way, and yeah, I love connecting. So if someone ever has an inspiring idea and I'll share it, let's collaborate. So that's me.

Danielle Cobo

For those of you listening, I will include all of her handle so that you can easily find her because it is true. I reached out to Lauren and I said, hey, Lauren, I have a podcast and I believe that your message will be so powerful and she immediately responded back and I said, absolutely when and where and she is so personable and so sweet and so supportive of the community as well. So thank you Lauren for being a guest.

Lauren McComb

I’m grateful that we were connected. I'm grateful for this opportunity and to connect with you even more and it's really fun, and this is what life felt about. Collaboration is key and collaboration is currency. It's amazing.
